BOTM:  The end!  This is the end; right?  And since this Saturday is the 4th of July and people are scattered hither and yon, though the pattern will be available at the shop this Saturday, Pippa will not.  She will, however, be here the following Saturday for any questions you might have.

FIELD TRIP:  Did any of you ever watch "Gilligan's Island"?  Of course you did.  Well, just think; if Ginger, Maryann, 'Lovey' and all the rest of them had been knitters, they'd have had loads to do after their three-hour tour went bad.  How about you?  Anybody up for a four-hour lighthouse cruise through the Straits of Mackinac, knitting all the while?  We're scheduled for Saturday afternoon, August 29th, for $45 per person.  There's more information on the website at www.gaylordimagiknit.com .   Just click on the link that says ''Knitters' Mini-Cruise."  Then come in or call the shop at (989) 732-9276 to sign up!

CLASSES:  The summer classes schedule will be slightly altered.  Our Meredith had some left-limb surgery this past week and will be recovering for a bit so will be unable to teach much, though she will be available to help in other areas.  Pippa will be here Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 6:00 for more advanced help, and Deby continues to hold the sock workshop every Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00.  Classes are all $10 an hour, and Deb's workshop is $10 for the entire block.  And remember our Thursday Knit Night is a social event unless other arrangements are made.  Call or come into the shop for more details, or check the website.

WORKSHOP: I've had a few people ask for a repeat of the Entrelac Workshop held a few months ago, so I'm going to schedule it for sometime in September.  Details to follow.

WHAT’S NEW?  SOCK BOOKS!

  • Socks From The Toe Up by Wendy D. Johnson has been a great seller.  It's been in and out of the shop a couple times now.  For you die-hard sock knitters who might want to try something new, toe up is up and coming!
  • Another great sock book is Sock Innovation by Cooke A.  There's some really beautiful patterns in here.  In fact, I saw quite a few that could only be worn with the clear clogs because you wouldn't want to hide the patterns!
  • How about Knitting MORE Circles Around Socks by Antje Gillingham?  And how about two at a time, toe up or cuff down?  How about it; huh?
  • While this book will never be the title for any of MY socks, Knitting The Perfect Pair by Dorothy Ratigan gives you all the secrets to great socks you'll ever need.  Do we love socks, or what???

WHAT ELSE?

  • Lots of Hiya Hiya bamboo circulars.  Finally.
  • More square needles from Kollage; this time in dpn's, sizes 5, 6, 7 and 8.
  • Knitting mugs, knitting mugs, and more knitting mugs.  I love these things.  Sooo pretty!
  • More sock yarn!  Big surprise; huh?  This time I got in more colors ofTrekking 6-ply, 150-gram balls.

And check these out:  Long-sleeve and short-sleeve t-shirts that give the message
without you saying a word.  "Don't bother me.  I'm knitting!"  Currently in x-large
for a one-size-fits-all idea, we'll have them available in M, L, and XL soon and in
white, pink and blue.  If you'd like to order one for you or your favorite knitter,
contact me at the shop and I'll be happy to enable you!  Short sleeves are $14.99,
long sleeves are $19.99.

FINALLY … Alpenfest is coming up fast.  I have some Alpenfest pins available at the shop for $3 each so you can get some good deals downtown during the festival.  Look for us knitting on the porch during the festivities, weather permitting, and please come join us if you can.  It's really fun!

I’m going to continue adding stuff to my 40%-off bins over the summer to unload all the yarns I’ll be discontinuing.  I’m discovering as I go what sells and what doesn’t, what you, my customers, like and what you don’t.  As it stands, because of the economy, I’m going to continue to carry the yarns that give you the best value for your dollar.

So come on into the YA-YA Room.  Remember:  No one need know you're here!

Maureen and the ImagiNUTS!

Spend July 4th knitting, and if anyone asks you why, tell them that there’s almost no better way to celebrate independence.  If they don’t believe you, tell them that in the early days of the United States people were urged to knit so they wouldn’t need to buy clothes and woolen goods from England, thus contributing to the country’s burgeoning independence and freedom.~The Yarn Harlot
