IT'S SUMMER!!! Are you ready for some sun and fun?!?
We're planning a wonderful afternoon getaway for late summer in the form of a Lighthouse Tour/Knitting Cruise out of Mackinaw City and under the Mackinac Bridge!
DATE: Saturday, August 29th, 2009
TIME: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
COST: $45.00 per person
Boarding begins at 1:00 p.m., and we will depart from Shepler's Mackinaw City dock. We'll bear west and pass directly under the mighty Mackinac Bridge, setting the stage for this 3-hour round-trip tour.
Visible to the south along the 20-mile run to White Shoal Light is Wilderness State Park. Also to the south lies Gray's Reef Light, originally built in 1891. Our ship will then double back toward the medieval-looking Waugoshance Light. The 12-mile eastward run to St. Helena Island provides ample opportunity for plenty of lighthouse lore and knitting time. The final pass on the Westward Cruise swings by the St. Helena Island Light, then back to Mackinaw City.
A box lunch of turkey or ham sandwich, fruit, chips, dessert, water or pop is available for $7.00 and must be ordered (but not paid) in advance. There is a concession stand on the boat for a la carte. They ask that we NOT bring any food or beverages of our own.
If you're interested in reserving a spot, it's first-come, first-serve. We will car-pool the 50 miles to Mackinaw City to save money, so tell a friend and arrange your ride. Seating for 90 people is available in the lower enclosed cabin and for 50 in the open-air upper level. I have no control over the weather, so we're planning on going, rain or shine!
I will accept credit cards over the phone to reserve your spot if you'll call (989) 732-9276, or you can stop into the shop to sign up and pay. The payment will be non-refundable after July 15th, so PLEASE be sure you can go before you commit!
If this cruise is anything like the train trip, it'll be a GREAT time!
